Can you finance an electric pallet jack?
Yes, you can finance an electric pallet jack, but one jack alone typically falls under our usual $15,000 minimum. Electric pallet jack financing and pallet truck financing work on the whole bundle, so you get there with several jacks or a forklift on the same agreement, plus the batteries and chargers bought with them. Here’s what jacks list for and what bundles cost each month.

Can you finance just one electric pallet jack?
Usually not. Our usual minimum is about $15,000, and it counts on the whole bundle, so a single walkie comes up short.
The exception sits at the top of the price range. A new 6,000 lb ride-on listed at $23,499 clears the minimum alone, and a 4,400 lb lithium rider at $14,749 comes in $251 short. Everything else we priced has to be bundled.
So I’d treat this as a bundling question. Once you’re at $15,000 or more, a jack works like the rest of our material handling equipment financing: we pay the vendor, and your business makes a fixed monthly payment with the equipment as collateral. Equipment finance agreements (EFAs) run 24 to 84 months and leases 24 to 60.
Need one jack and nothing else this year? It’ll likely come in under our minimum, and we’ll tell you that up front.
How do you reach the $15,000 minimum?
Four ways, and you can mix them.
- Buy several jacks at once. Four 3,000 lb walkies at $4,050 clear it. So do three 4,500 lb walkies at $6,500. At $2,099, it takes eight.
- Add a jack to a forklift deal. Most new forklifts clear the minimum on their own, so the jacks go on the same agreement and you make one payment. Our forklift financing guide has truck prices.
- Include the batteries and chargers. On an electric truck, the battery and charger can usually go into the same financed amount as the truck, along with delivery.
- Add other warehouse equipment. Racking, dock equipment and scissor lifts can share the deal. Our guide to warehouse racking and conveyor financing covers bigger fit-outs, including one payment across vendors on qualifying files.
Delivery, training and warranties can usually go on as well. The amount we can include for those soft costs is usually around 20% of the equipment amount, depending on credit and collateral. Ask us how soft costs and any spare batteries or chargers count toward the $15,000.
How much does an electric pallet jack cost?
New walkies in our check listed from $2,099 to $7,399, new riders at $14,749 and $23,499, and used jacks from $3,200 to $8,500. A walkie is the one you walk behind. A rider adds a platform the operator stands on.

Listed asking prices we found, checked November 5, 2026, not appraisals or offers. Freight and tax may be extra. Hours and contents are the sellers’ own words, which we haven’t verified. Five West has no affiliation with these sellers.
Dealer brands often don’t post a price. Crown’s own online shop shows “Request Quote for Price” on its PR 4500 rider, so plan on getting a dealer quote and sending it to us.
Should you buy a lithium or lead-acid pallet jack?
It comes down to how hard the jack runs. Lead-acid can do the job when a jack works short runs and charges overnight. I’d look at lithium when jacks run most of the day or across shifts.
Charging is the big difference. Uline says its 3,000 lb Big Joe gets about 4½ hours of continuous service per charge and can take up to 8 hours to fully charge. Discover Battery, a battery maker, says lead-acid generally takes 6 to 8 hours and can’t be opportunity charged, while lithium can, in as little as an hour with the right charger. Flooded lead-acid also needs watering and a ventilated room, and OSHA’s truck rule has its own requirements for charging areas.
Check two things on any quote:
- Don’t assume lithium costs more. In our check, lithium was both the cheapest walkie and the most expensive one.
- Compare amp-hours. The $4,252 Vestil has a 20 Ah pack, the $4,050 Big Joe has 85 Ah, and the $6,500 model has 224 Ah. Lithium can use more of its rating, so those numbers don’t compare one for one, but a 20 Ah pack won’t run as long on a charge as a 224 Ah set.
We finance both. If you want the bigger battery or an extra charger, ask the dealer to put it on the same quote.
What’s the monthly payment on a pallet jack bundle?
For an established business with nothing down, a bundle at our usual minimum comes to about $373 a month over 48 months. Each $10,000 you finance adds about $249 a month over 48 months or $208 over 60.
| Bundle | Amount financed | 36 months | 48 months | 60 months |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Any bundle at our usual minimum | $15,000 | About $477 | About $373 | About $311 |
| Four 3,000 lb AGM walkies | $16,200 | About $515 | About $403 | About $336 |
| Lithium rider plus one 3,000 lb AGM walkie | $18,799 | About $598 | About $468 | About $390 |
| Three 4,500 lb AGM walkies | $19,500 | About $620 | About $485 | About $405 |
| Five 4,500 lb lithium walkies | $21,495 | About $684 | About $535 | About $446 |
| New propane forklift plus two 3,000 lb AGM walkies | $38,100 | About $1,212 | About $948 | About $791 |
Estimated payments for established businesses only, nothing down, on an EFA. Bundles use the asking prices above and leave out freight, tax and soft costs. The forklift row uses the $30,000 new propane example from our forklift guide. Your payment will depend on credit, the equipment and the term. Not an offer.

Does OSHA require training for electric pallet jacks?
Yes. OSHA’s powered industrial truck rule, 29 CFR 1910.178, covers motorized hand trucks, and OSHA lists low-lift walkie and walkie/rider pallet trucks as Class III trucks. So an electric jack operator falls under the same training section as a forklift operator. Here’s what the rule asks of the employer:
- Train before they run it. Trainees operate only under direct supervision and where nobody’s put at risk.
- Cover three parts. Formal instruction, hands-on practice, and an evaluation of the operator in your workplace.
- Evaluate at least once every three years.
- Refresh when something changes. That includes unsafe driving, an accident or near miss, a change in the workplace, or a move to a different type of truck. Going from a walkie to a rider can count.
- Keep the certification. It shows the operator’s name, the training and evaluation dates, and who did them.
If a dealer quotes training with the jacks, keep it on the invoice, since it can usually go on the agreement as a soft cost. For how the rule applies to your site, ask your safety lead or an attorney.
Can you finance a used electric pallet jack?
Yes, in a bundle that reaches the minimum. New, used and refurbished jacks all qualify, from a dealer, an auction or a private seller. There is no age limit, though older equipment can be tougher to get done. Five West doesn’t set a maximum hour reading, and used equipment typically gets a shorter term than new.
With good credit, you usually don’t need a down payment, even on used equipment or a private-party sale. A $20,000 used bundle comes to about $636 a month over 36 months, estimated for an established business with nothing down.
Before you buy:
- See what’s included. Two of the used riders above are chassis only, and one spells out no battery and no charger. Price those in before you compare.
- Match the charger. Uline says the 4,500 lb Big Joe’s charger is calibrated for AGM, so a replacement battery has to be AGM or the charger has to change.
Buying from a private seller? We run a lien search and pay the seller directly. If the seller still owes on the jack, we pay off their lender at closing so the lien is released. An attorney can look over the bill of sale.
Should you lease or finance pallet trucks?
Either works once the bundle reaches the minimum. On an equipment finance agreement, you own the jacks from day one. An equipment lease ends with a $1, 10% or fair market value buyout, and the forklift guide walks through how shifts and hours decide it.
If you finance some pieces and lease others, that takes two agreements. The $15,000 minimum still counts on the total.
Buying before year end? Equipment bought on an EFA or a $1 buyout lease is generally deducted the same as a cash purchase if it’s placed in service by December 31. Your CPA can confirm how Section 179 applies to you.
What do you need to finance your pallet trucks?
Usually one short application and the quote. Qualifying files up to $500,000 can be decided on the application alone, with no tax returns or financial statements.
- The quote, invoice or listing, with make, model, capacity and battery type.
- On used jacks, the hour meter reading and the battery’s age and condition, since we review both.
- On a private sale, the seller’s details.
Many established-business programs start around a 600 FICO. Under a year in business, you’d be underwritten as a startup, which typically means 700+ personal credit, industry experience, working capital left after the purchase and usually some money down. Our startup financing guide covers it.
One funding professional handles your deal from application to funding. Clean application-only files can be approved in as little as 30 minutes, with funding in as little as 24 to 48 hours after you sign. You can check your status online, and if your list is short of the minimum, we’ll say so.
Frequently asked questions
Can you finance a single electric pallet jack?
Usually not on its own, because one walkie falls under our usual $15,000 minimum. Several jacks, a forklift or other warehouse equipment on the same agreement can get you there.
What’s the minimum for pallet truck financing?
Our usual minimum is about $15,000, and it counts on the whole bundle. Four new 3,000 lb walkies listed at $4,050 each come to $16,200, which clears it.
Can batteries and chargers go on the same agreement?
Yes, usually. On an electric truck, the battery and charger can usually go into the same financed amount as the truck, along with delivery.
Do you need a down payment on an electric pallet jack?
With good credit, you usually don’t need a down payment, even on used equipment or a private-party sale. Startups usually put some money down.
Is there an age limit on a used pallet jack?
There is no age limit, though older equipment can be tougher to get done. Older equipment typically gets a shorter term, and Five West doesn’t set a maximum hour reading.
Do electric pallet jack operators need OSHA training?
Yes. OSHA’s powered industrial truck rule covers motorized hand trucks. The employer has to train each operator, evaluate them at least once every three years and certify that it was done.
