Equipment Finance ($1 buyout)

Every payment goes toward owning the machine. At the end of the term you pay one dollar and it is yours outright. Payments run higher than a lease, but nothing is left to negotiate at the end.

Makes most sense for equipment you will run for its full working life and that holds its value: medical and dental imaging, CBCT and operatory build-outs, excavators, dozers and skid steers, trucks and trailers, CNC machines and press brakes, commercial kitchen lines, tractors and harvesters.

Equipment Lease (FMV)

You pay for the use of the equipment, not the whole machine, so the payment is lower. At the end you hand it back, renew, or buy it for what it is worth then. The choice is yours, and none of it is forced.

Makes most sense for equipment a newer model meaningfully improves on, or when the lowest monthly payment matters more than owning it at the end: IT and server hardware, point-of-sale and kiosk systems, copiers and production printing, phone and network systems.

Equipment Leaseback

You already own the equipment. We advance cash against it, so money lands in your account while you keep the equipment and keep using it every day. A lien is filed against it and released once the loan has been paid off.

Makes most sense for businesses with paid-off or mostly paid-off equipment that need working capital without taking on a traditional loan: trucks and trailers, construction and ag equipment, manufacturing lines, medical and dental equipment.

SBA 7(a)

A government-guaranteed loan from $150,000 to $5 million, paid back over 10 years (25 for real estate). Lower rates and longer terms than conventional credit, with more paperwork and several weeks to close.

Makes most sense for buying a business or buying out a partner, buying or building the building you operate from, a large expansion, or rolling expensive debt into one payment.

Still unsure? Pick the closest fit and note your situation in the comments at the end. We will confirm the right structure with you when we call, and it does not hold up your application.

Section 2
What industry is the business in?

Different industries run through different programs. This trims the questions that do not apply to you and tells us which programs to line up.

Section 3
How you found us

Two quick questions, so your application goes to the right person.

Section 3
About the request

Four quick answers. Together with your credit range, these decide what, if anything, we will need from you in the way of financials.

Equipment price before any down payment. We finance from $15,000 to $50 million.
Your time in business is locked in at this answer. Picked the wrong one? Email support@fivewestfinancial.com.
For a medical or dental practice, programs count the years you have been licensed as time in business.
Your answer is locked in at this answer. Picked the wrong one? Email support@fivewestfinancial.com.
Cash the business can use today: bank and savings balances, not money you expect later.
Your best figure for the last 12 months.
A comparable obligation paid as agreed is one of the strongest things a file can show.
Corporate-only financingBased on your revenue, time in business, and borrowing history, you may qualify to finance in the business name alone, with no personal guarantee.

Corporate-only financing is underwritten on the business itself, with no personal guarantee from the owners. For qualified borrowers with previous business borrowing history at similar dollar amounts, the business’s own credit and financials may be enough to qualify. Because there is no personal guarantor, underwriting relies more heavily on business financials, and we confirm eligibility when we review your file. We still ask for the authorized signer’s Social Security number to confirm who is signing for the business; it does not make them a guarantor. If corporate only is not approved, we will let you know and can proceed with a personal guarantee instead.

Tick this to continue.

Section 4
The loan

What the money does and when you need it. Short answers are fine.

The purchase
SBA wants about 10% of the total from your own funds, not borrowed. A seller note on full standby can cover up to half of it.
The new business
Everything the launch takes: buildout, equipment, inventory, working capital and fees.
SBA wants about 10% of the total project from your own funds, not borrowed.
The property
SBA only finances property the business itself occupies (51% of an existing building, 60% of new construction). A building you mainly rent out does not qualify; tell us more in the notes and we will look at other options.
10 years for most uses, up to 25 when real estate is the main part.
A complete SBA file usually takes 90 days or more to close, and often longer.
An SBA loan rarely closes inside 30 days. Keep going if the date can move. If it cannot, we can bridge with a faster program now and refinance into the SBA loan after.
Two quick checksSBA sets these rules, not us.
Not a nonprofit, a lender, a passive landlord, or a gambling or cannabis business.

Section 5
Ownership

Tell us about the owner(s) or personal guarantor(s). Ownership percentages must add up to 100%. If one owner holds less than 100%, add the other owners below (up to three total).

Your credit estimate is locked in at this range. Picked the wrong range? Email support@fivewestfinancial.com.
Your best estimate is fine. We review credit with a soft inquiry, which does not affect your score.
An approval at this credit tier needs at least two of these. Check everything that applies.

At this amount, full financials are required in addition to one other item above.

Full financials means these

Have them ready: the end of the application shows you where to send them.

  • 2 years of business tax returns (if applicable)
  • 2 years of personal tax returns
  • 3 months of business bank statements: full PDF statements, not screenshots
  • Last month’s business savings account statement (if applicable): the full PDF statement, not a screenshot
Co-signer details

The end of the application shows you where to send them. Sending them when you apply gives you the highest odds of approval and the best terms we can put together.

Corporate only: owners and authorized signerNo personal guarantee and no personal credit score, so we do not need home addresses. We do need to know how many owners there are, who signs for the business, and that signer’s Social Security number, which underwriting uses to confirm who is signing. Giving it does not make the signer a guarantor.

    Credit history

A few questions about the primary owner’s credit. Straight answers now mean no surprises when credit is reviewed.

Your answers are locked in once picked. Picked the wrong one? Email support@fivewestfinancial.com.
    Section 6
    A few SBA details

These fill the SBA forms for you, so you are not asked twice. Best estimates are fine.

The numbersFrom your last tax return and today’s books. Round numbers are fine.
Yes or noThe questions on the SBA forms. A yes is not a no from us; it just needs a sentence.
Any owner behind on federal debt (taxes, student loans, a prior SBA loan)?
Has the business or any owner had an SBA or other government loan before?
Any owner currently incarcerated, on probation or parole, or under indictment?
Any bankruptcy in the last 7 years, personal or business?
Any pending lawsuit, including a divorce, involving an owner or the business?
Any past-due business taxes or tax liens?
Is any owner, or someone in their household, a federal employee, SBA employee, or member of Congress?
    What an SBA file needs

Nothing needs to be sent yet: the end of the application shows you where to send them. Send what you have then, and the rest can follow; nothing here has to be perfect. We send you the SBA forms filled in from this application to sign.

      Section 6
      Equipment

Tell us what you are financing. If you have not chosen a specific unit yet, give us the vendor you are working with and your best description of the equipment.

Leaseback detailsSince you already own this equipment, we need its purchase history, how it is titled, and what the funds are for.
      Titled vehicle details
We will need a copy of the title and photos of the equipment.

A clear photo or scan of the front and back of the title is fine. For the equipment, a few phone photos are plenty: the front, each side, the VIN plate, and the odometer if it has one. The end of the application shows you where to send them; sending them right away keeps your file moving and avoids a follow-up request later.

      Section 7
      Terms
Percentage of the equipment price you plan to put down.
Your best guess is fine and can change later. It helps us structure the lease and the end-of-term options up front.
      Section 8
      Additional information

Your timeframe, then anything you want us to know that the fields above did not cover: context on the business, the deal, a past credit event, or anything else that helps us position your file. The notes are optional but highly recommended.

      Application process overview

      1
      Application review
We review both personal and business credit via soft inquiry and reach out if anything else is needed.
      2
      Approval options
We secure approval options for you to compare.
      3
      Documents & deposit funding
Documents are sent out for signature. We release deposit funding to the vendor if required for equipment once documents are signed.
      4
      Delivery confirmation & final funding
Final funding is released after delivery confirmation and verbal authorization from the signor.

Most common reasons applications get delayed

      • Missing information. A field left blank, a document we asked for that has not arrived, or a number that does not match what is on file. Everything you send us up front saves a round trip.
      • Frozen credit. A freeze or lock at Experian or Equifax stops the soft inquiry cold. If you have one in place, lift it now so the review can start.
      • Inactive business entity or past-due annual filing fees. Every program checks the Secretary of State record. If the business shows as inactive, delinquent, or not in good standing, bring the filing current before we submit.

      Frequently asked questions
